Winter is coming, but the fun doesn’t have to stop. This weekend, those living in the Edmonton area can enjoy a variety of exciting events that are fun for the whole family. Here are 5 that caught our eye:
1. Edmonton Expo
A hit with all ages and happening only once a year, the Edmonton Comic & Entertainment Expo is an unmissable event if you’re a fan. You can find interesting products, check out workshops, and even meet stars in the industry. So far, Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation) and Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings) are slated to appear.
2. City Market Downtown
The City Market Downtown at 4th Street Promenade on 104 Street Northwest is free to attend and has something for the whole family. This Saturday, September 22nd from 9am to 3pm, local vendors gather to sell farm-fresh produce, locally raised meats as well as ready to eat meals and snacks. Treat yourself or your loved ones to handcrafted jewelry, local art and bespoke clothing.
3. Edmonton Oil Kings vs. Red Deer Rebels
For the sports aficionados out there, you might be interested i this exciting event. On Friday September 21st at 7pm, the Edmonton Oil Kings face off against the Red Deer Rebels on the ice at Rogers Place. If you enjoy hockey, go check it out as tickets start from just $20.
4. Moonlight Carnival
For those looking for a cultural experience, take advantage of the Mid-Autumn Festival, an Asian holiday celebrating the full moon. Held at the Edmonton Korean Canadian Association, the Moonlight Carnival will take place on Saturday, September 22nd from noon to 7pm and is free to attend! Enjoy live entertainment from 1 to 6pm, as well as cool activities like mooncake making, lantern making and tea ceremony.
5. Dinosaurs Unearthed Exhibition
Why not take your kids to an event they’ll brag about? The Dinosaurs Unearthed: Down to the Bone limited time exhibition at the Telus World of Science challenges what we think we know about dinosaurs and is fun for all-ages. The exhibition presents spectacular prehistoric scenes, life-sized animatronics, full-scale skeletons and engaging interactive activities. Open daily at 9am, admission is $25.95 for adults and $17.95 for children.
