For a long time, the idea of the blind spot in a vehicle was—for lack of a better term—just blindly accepted (that is, unless we wanted to go back to riding horses). Of course, well-positioned side and rearview-mirrors can cut down on vehicle blind spots, but the reality is both life and traffic come at you fast—even the best-positioned mirrors can go to waste. Luckily for those who shoulder-check diligently, and those who think shoulder checks only occur playing hockey, Nissan has a solution: Blind Spot Warning. So, if you’re interested in learning how you can say goodbye to the uncertainty of blind spots, read on and learn about this smart Nissan technology with your favourite Edmonton Nissan dealer: West End Nissan.
What is Nissan Blind Spot Warning?
Like stuffed crust pizza, everything you need to know about Nissan Blind Spot Warning is found right there in the name. This advanced safety system monitors for vehicles driving behind you in the adjacent lane. When you activate your turn signal, your Nissan uses an audible chime and visual cue on your dash to warn you that a vehicle is in your blind spot. This keeps you from continuing to switch lanes, and in-turn, from getting into a collision with a vehicle in your blind spot. No false advertising here, just a product that does what it says it will (unlike certain other products, *ahem* Smart Water).
How Does Blind Spot Warning Work?
For Blind Spot Warning to work, Nissan placed a radar sensor in the vehicle’s rear bumper. This alerts your Nissan when another vehicle is in your blind spot. Once you activate your turn signal, it will warn you both audibly and visually if there is a vehicle in range of your bumper’s radar sensor. Some Nissan vehicles also utilize a rear-mounted camera for extra coverage, like with Nissan’s Rear Cross Traffic Alert system, but that’s another blog topic for another day.
