2025 Nissan Pathfinder vs 2025 Honda Pilot: Ready for Real Life in Edmonton

When it comes to life in Edmonton, you need an SUV that’s just as ready for icy roads and weekend camping trips as it is for school drop-offs and hockey practice. That’s where the 2025 Nissan Pathfinder shines. While the Honda Pilot has its strengths, it falls short in a few important ways. The Pathfinder brings rugged confidence, smarter towing, and more flexible space — all in a package that’s easier on your wallet.

Power That Pulls More Than Its Weight

Power That Pulls More Than Its Weight

Pathfinder is built for real adventures. With a strong 3.5-litre V6 engine, it gives you 284 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque. That’s plenty for towing, and you’ll feel the power every time you merge or climb. It also tows up to 6,000 lbs — that’s 1,000 lbs more than the Pilot can handle. So if you're hauling a boat or camper, the Pathfinder makes it easier.

The Pilot does offer a bit more horsepower on paper with 285, but its max tow rating is only 5,000 lbs. In Alberta, where trailers are common and long drives are the norm, that’s a big difference.

Built-In Confidence with 4x4 That’s Always Ready

The 2025 Pathfinder comes standard with Intelligent 4x4 across the lineup. No extra fees, no guesswork. It’s built to tackle snowy roads, wet trails, or loose gravel without hesitation. The Pilot? All-wheel drive is available, but not standard. That means you’ll have to upgrade — and pay more — just to get similar traction in winter.

Plus, Pathfinder has seven drive modes, including Tow, Mud/Rut, and Snow. That’s real versatility, right out of the box.

Spacious Cabin. Smarter Cargo.

<p><span style=Pathfinder is roomy and well-designed inside. You can choose between seven- or eight-passenger seating, with second-row captain’s chairs available. The EZ Flex® seating system makes it easy to slide seats and reach the third row. With up to 2,279 litres of cargo space, it’s a breeze to load up gear, groceries, or strollers.

One thing Pathfinder does better? Its floor fits a full 4’ x 8’ sheet — rare in this class. And underfloor storage gives you hidden spots for essentials. While the Pilot has decent cargo room too, it doesn’t match the Pathfinder’s layout or floor flexibility.

Tech That Feels One Step Ahead

Inside the Pathfinder, you’ll find modern, driver-focused tech. The available 12.3-inch digital dashboard can show maps, directions, and more — all right in front of you. There’s also wireless smartphone connectivity, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and even a MyNISSAN App for easy access to your Pathfinder from your phone.

The Pilot has some nice tech features, including a 9-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, but many of its best features — like surround-view camera or BOSE audio — are reserved for higher trims. With Pathfinder, you get more value right from the start.

Safety That Has Your Back (And Front)

Pathfinder comes with Nissan Safety Shield® 360, standard across the board. That means automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, and more — all included. You also get advanced tools like ProPILOT® Assist with Navi-Link, which helps with lane centering and traffic flow using real-time road data.

Pilot has Honda Sensing® too, but many of its most useful tools are locked behind higher trims. The surround-view camera, for example, is only available on the most expensive models.
