Range and Battery
The standard Nissan Leaf features a powerful 147 horsepower electric motor that powers the front wheels. The power is provided by a 40-kWh battery pack that sits along the floor of the vehicle. If you are looking for more range and power, Nissan has the optimal option for you. The 214 horsepower electric motor that's paired to a 62-kWh battery. The Leaf Plus can race to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds and offers a ton of torque and opportunities for spirited driving.
The Leaf has the option of being plugged into either a 120-volt outlet or a 240-volt outlet; however, charging time will vary. While most consumers will opt for the more powerful charging option, Nissan states with the 240-volt charger, both the standard battery will charge to full in eight hours while the plus battery will charge from empty to full in just 11.5 hours. However, if you are on a road trip and require frequent charges and need them quickly, then a DC fast-charging connection is standard on all trims. With DC fast-charging at 100 kW, you will be able to gain 80% in approx. 45 minutes and at 60 kW approx. 60 minutes; this is for the 62 kWh battery. The 40-kWh battery, which is available on Leaf S and SV 80% charge, will take approx. 40 minutes. Either way, you look at it; the Nissan Leaf will have you charged and ready to go to your next destination.
